Demand for hotel rooms continued to be high in July 2022 despite the ongoing concern about future developments in the Swedish economy. Households’ view of the development has been gloomy for a longer period while the view from businesses has been more positive, although it has become increasingly negative in recent months.

The occupancy rate in July 2022 was at the same level as it was in July 2019, 69 percent. The big difference is otherwise in terms of the average daily rate, which was 22 percent higher compared to July 2019. What remains to recover are the foreign guest nights, which are still 5 percent lower in July this year compared to July 2019. Hotel companies’ expectations for demand in the next three months was lowered during the month.
