Hotellmarknadens konjunkturbarometer maj 2024

During the first quarter, the average price and RevPAR in Sweden increased by 1.8 and 1.1 percent, respectively, compared to the same quarter the previous year. However, the number of occupied rooms decreased by 0.8 percent, and the occupancy rate decreased by 1.7 percentage points during the same period.

In the first quarter, the adjusted and smoothed net figure for hotel companies’ price expectations for the next three months decreased from 30 to 26 units, while expectations for future profitability continue to increase, contrary to historical trends. Additionally, the labor shortage remains low, with 89 percent of hotel companies in the survey reporting no labor shortage, compared to 94 percent in the previous quarter. Furthermore, over a three-month period, 60 percent of hotel companies expect the number of employees to remain unchanged. It is noteworthy that around 30 percent of companies anticipate an increase in the number of employees, which is about 20 percentage points higher than the previous quarter.
