In April, just over two years after the global Covid-19 pandemic, the demand for hotel rooms was at a higher level than the corresponding month in 2019, the year before the pandemic. Demand was also higher in May and June, resulting in total occupied rooms being 6.5 percent higher in the second quarter of 2022 compared to the same period 2019. However, expectations for future demand over the next six months fell sharply during the quarter. There is considerable uncertainty about how Swedish economy will develop in the future, which also means uncertainty about the development of the hotel market.
