Improved outlook on future demand among hotel companies: During the fourth quarter of 2023, the ADR and total room revenues in Sweden increased by 3.3 and 3.1 percent, respectively, compared to the same quarter the previous year. However, the number of rooms sold decreased by 0.2 percent, and the occupancy rate dropped by 0.6 percentage points during the same period.

The newly released hotel market statistics for 2023 show a strong overall performance. Compared to the high benchmark set in 2022, all key figures of the hotel market exhibit positive developments.

The statistics from this month show strong macroeconomic key figures. Especially the inflation rate, measured by the CPIF, which has declined to 2.3 percent, a mere 0.3 percental units from the inflation goal set by the Swedish central bank.

The negative development evident in last month’s report has subsided slightly for some of the macroeconomic key figures. Amongst these figures are the confidence indicator for households that increased by 0.9 units and the value of the Swedish Krona which strengthened relative to both the Euro and USD.
